A smooth, creamy frosting so delicious you could almost eat it by itself.
Using a double boiler, melt chocolate chips over very hot water. Remove from heat and add 1/3 of the confectioners' sugar. Beat until smooth. Add the remaining sugar alternately with the sour cream, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla. Beat until smooth.
Yields frosting for two 9-inch layers.
